Using Baton
Which types of presentations does Baton support?+
Baton currently supports the following slide software for Mac: Keynote, Google Slides, and PowerPoint for Mac. We are constantly evaluating other types of slide software and will launch support for those as usage dictates. If you have a request for a particular slide software, please let us know.
Who needs to download the Baton application?+
The presenter (the person sharing their screen and showing their presentation) needs to have the Baton application installed on their computer. Co-presenters do not need the app installed, since the app is needed only to control the presentation. Co-presenters use their web browser to advance the slides remotely.
How do I use Google Slides?+
Using Baton with Google Slides requires the Baton for Slides Google Chrome Extension to be installed. Once installed, you will see a link in your Google Slides application that allows you to launch Baton and connect it to your active session. You can download the Chrome Extension at the Chrome Web Store.
Is Baton secure?+
Baton is a secure application that only uses HTTPS encrypted traffic. Our server has been hardened using best practices for security and only opens traffic for specific use cases. The Baton MacOS application is notarized by Apple and scanned for malicious components and certified for distribution. Miscellaneous
What kind of information does Baton collect?+
You can read about Baton's data collection policy and the types of data we collect on our Privacy Policy page.
Doesn't Zoom offer this functionality?+
Yes, Zoom offers this functionality as part of their software, and if Zoom is the only presentation software you use, by all means you should use the native functionality. The reality is, for many companies, you can't always guarantee that you can use Zoom for every meeting. For example, sometimes you are meeting with another company that uses Microsoft Teams. Baton allows you to share your presentations no matter which presentation software you are using.
I use a PC. Why is this Mac only?+
Yes it is true that Baton is Mac only for now. So, those running the Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems are out of luck at the moment. Support for PCs is part of the Baton development roadmap, but for now we are focusing on the Mac OS.
